The latest creation is by Ralph & Russo Couture. While breasts and nipples aren’t as defined on this number (like they are in the bustier The Blonds created for the pop star), it’s sheer and more revealing, making those sequined nipples all the more important.
According to a release, the look is an “embellished bodysuit with gold crystal and bullion thread embroidery.” Beyoncé has worn Ralph & Russo Couture before on previous tours. She also wore one of their pieces (a more demure white number) on the first night of her tour.
“Beyoncé is such a powerful and inspirational woman, we were absolutely thrilled when she approached Ralph & Russo Couture again to design outfits for her infamous ‘Mrs Carter World Tour’,” creative director Tamara Ralph said. “Her energetic and commanding performances make designing for her so inspiring!”
Beyoncé has been catching flack for wearing The Blonds’ trompe l’oeil bustier. Unsurprisingly, Fox News devoted a whole piece to the backlash quoting “experts” who called it “vulgar” and an “ill-executed effort to keep up with younger and more raucous stars.” Vanity Fair noted that Obama distanced himself from Beyoncé following her wearing of the “controversial, anatomically correct sequin suit” and that trip she and Jay-Z took to Cuba.
